Bally lamp zener diode

Does anyone know what the correct zener diode to use for lamps on a mid-80's Bally pinball (Lady Luck) is? One of my lamps is out, and it's not the bulb. Upon examination of the circuit, the zener diode looks different than that on the 3 lamps next to it. The darned things are too small to read anyt...

What I have now is identical to what the majority of pinball owners have in place of the original nicad batteries, and is functionally identical to what Marco sells to replace the original nicad. If the rectifier was blocking the power going to the memory, I'd lose all my settings and the high game ...

Upon further evaluation, leaving the machine turned off for as little as 15 minutes seems to kill the sound (it can be heard very faintly), but after turning it back on, by the end of playing 1 game, it's back. You wouldn't think the sound would be dependent on capacitors, but I can't think of any o...

They're standard, fresh duracel batteries. 3 of them, which should cover the 3.6v NiCad removed from the board. I've got a rectifier diode in the circuit to block the charging. Probably about 6" worth of wire between the holder and the original location, which according to most sources should b...

Or so I thought. Turned the machine off last night. Turned it back on this morning, no sound. Left it on all day when I went to work, came home, started a game, and the sound was fine. Didn't lose hi-score or programming memory, so I'm assuming the batteries were installed correctly. Any chance the ...

Adjusted the leaf switch, now it's working fine. Thought I was having a problem with the sound (which was why I replaced the pot), but I think it had something to do with the battery. After I'd have the machine off for a few days, the sound wouldn't work, or would work intermittently, but after bein...

Got my balls! They're also sending me the post rubber that I was missing. Also got my new locks, though the backbox seems to need a different tab. Going to have to see if I can modify one to work. Seems to need something with a hook that will go over a post on the backbox glass. Just FYI, replaced t...

Replaced the rubbers, though the replacement set seemed to be missing one post rubber (the little tiny one that just barely seems to have a hole in it. It came with 2, but it looks like I need 3. At least I have the 2 new ones on the posts on the out lanes, the other one goes up by one of the pop bu...

Need to pick up like 4 bulbs (555?). Has anyone used the LED replacements? Are they usually that nasty LED blue-white, or are they the nicer warm color that's closer to incandescent? I've been in reprogramming the machine, managed to get a lot nicer sounds out of it (at first it was just dinging and...

Well, the balls are supposed to be new, so hopefully they will be. Nothing worse than old, rusty balls! Also have a new set of locks coming, the one on the backbox had been drilled out, and there's no key for the one on the coin door. Altogether it should run me less than $350 for a nice working mac...

Well, it took all of my mechanical and electrical prowess, but after replacing a 1A slow blow fuse, both the outhole kicker AND the drop targets are working. Already ordered a set of rubbers, some new balls and have Novus #2 already on hand. I've got a couple of bulbs out (maybe 3), so I'll have to ...

I've figured out about the release lever inside the door that lets you remove the top plate, and after removing the glass I can lift the playfield (it's even got a "kickstand" to keep it lifted). When I get home I'll have to do a bit more testing, couldn't find the clips for my multimeter ...

Considering I've never been inside a pinball machine before last night, any help is appreciated. Today's mission is to test the outhole kicker (I'm learning the terms as I go along), and if its getting voltage and not working, to see if I can figure out how to pull it out of the machine. It seems to...

Ball return

The ball return doesn't seem to be working on my Bally Midway "Lady Luck". Anybody have any ideas what I can check to see if I can figure out why?

The glare wasn't really noticeable while playing, but it seems to have been an issue with my cellphone's camera. I think the machines run from around 1935 up to some early 2000's models, with a pretty good representation of each era. I don't know the exact number of machines, but I believe it's some...

One of the guys who service their machines are http://www.antiquepinball.com/ , who happen to be in the next town over from me. After reading a bit more, it seems they've got about 5 people who work on them. Gman, the pinball hall of fame you linked to is in Vegas, this one is in Asbury Park, NJ. Bo...

They host birthday parties (one was just ending when we got there) and have specials throughout the week. I got some coupons online that made it $5...

Pics from the pinball museum

A few photos I took at the pinball museum. There are a lot more machines than those pictured in the photos, and above each machine is a card with the history of the machine, and the current high scores for male, female, male & female under 13, and male & female over 50. http://a1.sphotos.ak....

Found out he's got it on ebay, and he's also willing to bring it to about 15 miles from me, but it also sounds like there's more wrong with it than just being stuck in tilt. The ebay listing says that it won't boot and that the displays went dead. Anyone have any idea if it's worth $300 in that cond...
