That same coin mech was used as early as 1998.(maybe earlier ~ Yama you know?)

It was used by Eleco as well as Universal, Aruze, Macy and Mizuho

Also the plug connectors changed over the years. The newer ones have a smaller connector, the older ones have larger one.

The mech on the left is from a Getter Mouse (model M-2) and the right from my NINE (model M-6).
I noticed that the newer M-6 design made for easy replacement of the sensor that seems to fail more often. The sensors are interchangable with a little wire cut and repair. The penny was for size comparision.

My M-6 does not throw an error code as you suggest. In fact, it doesn't do anything at all. It does not register credits or light an LED on the MB. Is there a way to test it for input/output? Where can I buy a new sensor? The coin mech drops and ejects properly and the stuck coin portion works. It just does not see a coin going by the credit sensor.

Not sure if this will help, but it's worth a try: A CJ or CR error code is normally generated by a different SENSOR than the SENSORS that counts the tokens, and would give a CR or CE error. The sensor that gives a CJ code normally works with a small magnet that catches a 'slug' which in turn holds a lever in the SENSOR, causing an error code. You can also get a CJ error if the sensor is unplugged or is bad. Make sure there isn't anything jammed in the coin mechanism (coins, hairs, etc..). The optical sensor that determines if a proper token is passing through can be picky sometimes. You can also test the sensor by depositing a token and stopping it with your hand, to simulate a slug being caught, & see if you get a CJ error. The lever that passes through this sensor should have a spring on it, (spring loaded), & if not it could give you an unexpected error.

That is the eject sensor you speak of. If a coin truly gets stuck by magnetism, it engages the CJ portion and locks the machine out. Inserting proper coins causes them to fall out. Using a proper token, they go all the way through, but don't register. In short, the first sensor works. The counter sensor does not. It is a KR1142-AZ part number made by Shinkoh Elecs. Photo below. It has 4 wires. I'm sure 2 of them are probably power and the other 2 are signal to the MB, but nothing lights up as the coin passes.

It is common for the sensors to fail, which is most likely your problem. You can buy the sensors from Japanese suppliers, but you have to buy large quantities. I believe Member Lompoker has a supplier he can get small quantities from. You can read about in this topic.

Thanks Wayne. While these messages are over 2 years old, I will see if they pan out and let the board know. I have tracked down almost all of the LED's on the MB for their function. You would think there has to be one for the counter. Would it help to post a new thread with pics, to illustrate what each of them do, as I can prove?

I think that would be a nice thing to do while you wait for Lompoker to read his pms. BTW I'm still waiting for him to read one from me from the 24th! The thread might prove beneficial, and at least informative, to someone else. Thank you for the offer. 8)

I replied in the M2/M4/M6 thread...
Been off the grid awhile as I unpack from my last move, home repairs, and settling in to a new job.
Everything has been in storage since 2012, when I went to SOUTH Korea on orders.
Found stuff I forgot I had.
I still have e-mail contacts for these sensors if I need more.
They should run @ $8.00 each now.

I've been trying to buy stuff off of Tomscott that she had for sale, hope she's ok.

I still have one spare sensor left. The one that gets requested the most.
The sensor is a dual pick-up unit.
It has 4 wires that plug-in and snaps in to the back of the mech.
Facing the back, it's located @ 3/4 way down the left side and @ 3/4" in.

You PM'd me about a reset key.
Your game was made in 2002.

I have a couple of games that were made in 1998.
I also have a key cutting machine, and can duplicate it, if I have a blank in my mess.
