Virtual Parlors

Post by Chris »

Since it is my birthday I have decided to give you all a present.

Introducing Virtual Parlors

A virtual parlor allows to show off the machines you own, have owned or want to own. To access Virtual Parlors use the menu on the left.

I plan on spending a lot more time setting mine up..but this will get us started.

I have developed this using Firefox and have done some testing on IE but not a lot so if you have any issues let me know. Be sure to include the steps I would need to reproduce the issue.

Things I still need to do:
  • Allow uploads a custom images of machines...for now we can only use the ones in the database.
  • Allow people to give comments on other people's parlors.
Enjoy!

Chris

Chris this sounds very interesting! The man who gives back on his birthday, is a man that will receive many gifts in his future! I just made that up, but sounds good :D

It's a bit buggy...tried adding machines...would lose selected machine graaphics...reverts back to "untitled" ...no preserving seleced machines in rows in the parlor.

Actually the last three and a half days, I've been sick as a dog. I have so much medicine in me, that I don't know what I'm even talking about anymore.
But it could be the Hong Kong Phooey machine

There seems to be some major problems accessing the virtual parlor via Internet Explorer. I am not sure what is wrong but until I figure it out use Firefox if you want to play around.

OK, perhaps I was little premature with my release of Virtual parlors. I won't have time until Monday to look at it so I disabled it until then. Damn Microsoft...everything was working fine until I tried to get it to work with IE.

Still buggy...doesn't remember selected machines.

Changes then to "undefined" in the selected box.

Look @ my parlor & you'll see what happens....

Most happened when dealing with the rows addition & then the "Manage" button...seemed to lose previously seelcted machines. I tried to create 2 rows with 4 machines each..the 2nd row addition went fine, but the 1st row lost the first 3 machines selected.

As a fix, I just loaded all 8 machines in row 1 and that seemed to keep all of them

Thanks for you help taellik. I was able to figure out what was going on. When you added a new row the old rows were being wiped out. I think I got all the weird cross-browser issues. If any one sees any fields showing "undefined"...or anything else that is unexpected let me know.

Thanks!

What do you guys use to save your machines to the row. I get my machines selected, but not sure how to keep them. My row is there, but no machines?

Add a row. Select the row and click manage
Add your machines in whatever order you want. When you are done be sure to hit Commit or you will loose all your settings on that row.

I need to give some more instructions when I get a chance.

I have added the ability to add a custom machine to the Virtual Parlors. I have also added the ability to upload custom images. The images must be 160X260 or they will be automatically scaled. The machine will show as "Custom". I suggest using the comments area to describe your machine.

If anyone has any issues with this new feature let me know.
