Timing is key

Post by Gman »

i could not come up with a good subject so thats it.
I sold my Spy Hunter pinball last night. I had leads on two other ones that I was working but wanted the cash and space before I picked up another machine. I didn't want to park my truck outside in Feburary.
Timing is very key to any transaction I found out yester day that one of the pins I was concidering was sold, and I called on another machine the day before and the Mrs. of the house said it was for sale but had to find out the price etc. I got called back by the ownere and said no the machine is NOT for sale. I wish a Happy Valentines day to that happy couple. :cussing:
So here I sit with pin money, room and no new pin to buy. I guess I will go shopping on Ebay. ouch $$$$$

Mike,
Buy a ticket to Florida. You can stay at the Pachi house next door and play pinball, pachislo and pachinko for free until you heart is content. Oh and stay warm at the same time. Just a thought.

Jeff That is a generous and tempting offer! The Mrs. know I have an itch for a new pin. She even mentioned I had a 'hole' to fill. She quickly tried to retract the statement but too late.
I just think the timing thing was a kick in the shins, when I had no room and not much$$ I had a few leads, the minute I have a few $$ and the room everything evaporated. I guess it was fate for me to take the next step and get a better class of machine, newer anyway.?? OR I have a lead on an old EM project cheap so I will prob go pick it up and see what trouble I can get into with it.

Looks like a nice little project. The playfield and backglass look like they are in good shape.

I wish it was this nice the backglass is shattered. I pulled these images off IPDB.org I figured the for sale posted ones could be pulled and the links would end up broken.

Mike,
How is the playfield? Does the machine work? Missing boards? I have an idea you may like. I want to take pictures of what I did with a machine with no backglass and bad cabinet and see what you think.

It is an Em and I think it is all there, no actual circuit boards. There is no sounds or display that are theme oriented so I can white board it and start over with any thing really. Show me what you have done with yours Jeff.

Mike,
This is the project I was talking to you about with the old pin. Here are a few pictures of the coffee table I made with a trashed Eight Ball pin. There was no back glass or board, cabinet shot, worn playfield but not bad. Let me know what you think.

That is sweet. That is really a nice looking playfield.
I like the lock down bars on both ends, and the rails with flipper buttons

I can get old playfields, I was thinking of making a ceiling out of a few.
Maybe I'll cherry pick one for a similar project.

If the clown works I might strip it down, re paint it, with the pinhead from hell raisers instead of the clown ;) I also have plans to do a vintage pachinko with the same theme.

Good eye Metz, you are correct. It is the Eight Ball with Fonz.
I don't like to part out the pins unless there is no hope. There was no head board or backglass and all the crap under the playfield was missing. The cabinet was in bad shape. Plus free to good home was even better. The saving grace was it had all the plastics and a good but slightly faded playfield. The pinball is super glued to the playfield. White Christmas lights were put where the original lights were. Probably cost me around $50 to $100 in parts including the new levelers and leg bolts and a free playfield.

Jeff, I posted your table on pinball group, someone asked how you turn the lights on and off? original switch or a button or just unplug?
