shopping for a pinball

Post by Gman »

I sold a pin, the $ and the missing pinball is killing me. I am having fun shopping.
I have a bout $1000 + - to spend, don't want to ship and have to try it before I buy it.
I have a casino theme with the slots and the other current pins have roultette wheels. Strange theme point but thats what happened. I am looking for a darker themed newer SS game. Bram strokers Dracula, elvira or any non juvinile pin without clowns and puppies is fair game. I am looking for a name that has multiball, and a rule set that I can play many, many times without getting bored.
I have been offered a few pins locally within my budget.
1. Who ? Dunnit local pickup
2. Elvira and the party Monsters (in Traverse city)
3. Black Rose 1+ hours drive same model as Jeff has
4. bay watch, well it is in really good shape and cheapest, reviews are great the Mrs pretty much vetoed it though.
5. Big guns, not that interested in this one, cool through the air wire form shots
6. Dr. Who, liked the show, the 3 level rising mini PF is a real coolfeature, deep rule set, skill shots. But is in Ohio major road trip. CHEAP
7. a starship troopers
I am almost sold on the Who ? dunnit. it has a roulette wheel I can bet and win or lose points, and a slot machinie built into the PF, it spins when a worm hole is hit.

The Who Dunnit and Dr Who may have the most deepest rule set. I really love the Who Dunnit. The game is not every time same because you have to figure up the murderer and the game has lot of animations too.

Elvira is fun to have if you are already a Scared Stiff owner otherwise you may get bored soon (well...if it is cheap). It is not that deep but there's good flow and its fun to play. Well the Stiff does not have deep rule set for home use neither...

Baywatch is nice looking pinball (except Mr. Hasselhoff) with lot to shoot at
and the graphics are awesome in that big screen.

The rule set is not the only thing. I personally really like pinballs with good flow and faster they are the better and more fun they are for me. Hate those stop and go wide body pinballs which usually are in top ten lists so it would not be wise to read my opinions :)

So I would choose Who Dunnit or Baywatch from those if they all are pretty much same price but I'm not sure which one is easier to sell in the future if it is not keeper to you. I know my friends would choose differently because some of those are quite rare in Finland.

Mike,
I dont know if you want any projects, but there is an interesting machine on E bay. Type in "pinball roulette", 3 machines come up. The last one needs a lot of work, but is very interesting., cheap as well. Also a Monte Carlo machine and one other with roulette wheel in my area.

My knowledge on pinball is extremely limited but those all seem like good choices. Elvira was one of my favorites when I was growing up.

I forgot about the roulette wheel on whodunit. I love the pins with the mini playfields, my favorite is haunted house. It has upper and lower fields. A local pick up beats driving any distance unless it is something you must have. I haven't played whodunit, so I would defer to Metz.
Good Luck and send pictures of your choice.
